This presentation will review cannabis epidemiology, medical uses as well as conditions for which cannabis use has not been shown to be beneficial, addiction potential with an emphasis on vulnerable populations including adolescents and risks in pregnancy and children exposed to cannabis during fetal development, and accumulating evidence for adverse mental health effects of cannabis use. Challenges of cannabis use in the justice population with a focus on competency restoration will be discussed.
