Paliperidone (Invega) is a metabolite of risperidone (Risperidone). While the efficacy and side effects of these medications are similar, there are some difference in 5-HT2A/D2 (serotonin/dopamine) binding ratios. The risperidone binding ratio is lower than the paliperidone binding ratio. More information is available here.
